Addo Elephant Lodge and Safaris (Addo, Eastern Cape) has announced its affiliation with the international Til Schweiger Barefoot brand and has been renamed to Barefoot Addo Elephant Lodge. The lodge has also completed an extensive remodel.
Voortrekker Monument (Gauteng, South Africa) has announced that the men’s toilet at the Assegaai Gate is undergoing a upgrade, there will be no toilet facilities past the assegaai gate or inside the Monument. It has been advised to make use of the toilet facilities at the Avocado Restaurant next to the gift shop.
Jabulani (Kapama Game Reserve, South Africa) has been awarded five-star premium status by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa. One of only ten properties that have been awarded this status in the country.
AfriCamps at Hoedspruit (Hoedspruit, Greater Kruger) will be opening on 01 November 2019.
Bushtracks Africa (Zambezi River, Southern Africa) has announced that due to an unexpected decrease in the water levels of the Zambezi River, Classic River Safaris (The Darter and Cormorant)
will be adjusting their route to accommodate these changes. As of 21October 2019, Bushtracks River Safaris fleet will navigate upstream until further notice.
Under One Botswana Sky (Botswana, Southern Africa) has ceased all boat cruises at their Okavango Delta camps, due to low water levels. Mokoros are still available at Pom Pom Camp and they include a lovely game drive to the mokoro station. At Moremi Crossing, Gunn’s Camp and both Dinare camps, mokoros are not on offer any longer until the water situation improves. At all camps including Moremi Crossing and Gunn’s Camp guests now enjoy great quality game drives as well as walking safaris which have been absolutely superb due to drier conditions and limited water sources in the concessions. Predator action include regular sightings of big cats, wild dogs, hyenas is always a highlight on any safari.
