Babylonstoren is one of the oldest Cape Dutch farms in the Cape Winelands; and, they have retained much of their historic grandeur by cultivating extensive, traditional farm gardens bursting with fresh fruit, herbs and vegetables. Guests can participate in a unique farm program that can include picking their own salads, baking bread in the old wood-fired oven, handcrafting cheeses and curing a variety meats.

A world-class destination
The Dutch brought the first vines to the Cape, and in so doing, set off a chain of events that would eventually see the Cape Winelands become one of the foremost wine regions of the world. The outstanding Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Paarl, Wellington, Robertson and West Coast wine regions are in close proximity to Cape Town. Wine tourism is well-developed, and many visitors to the Cape enjoy world-class excursions along the picturesque wine routes which include wine-tastings and fine dining.
Getting there
The Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek wine regions of the Cape Winelands are on the outskirts of Cape Town and are easily reached by luxury coach journey or helicopter rides.
When to Visit
Like the rest of South Africa, the Cape Winelands is a fantastic all-year-round destination. However, unlike the rest of the country, it has a distinctly Mediterranean climate and landscape, and it differs in having cool, rainy winters and dry, hot summers. The Winter rainy season peaks over July to August. There are long daylight hours, a minimum of 8 hours in the cooler months from April to August and up to 11 hours in the warmer months from October to March. Sunglasses, sun hats and sunscreen are recommended all year round.
