Day 1 - Kigali

On arrival at Kigali Airport, you will clear customs and collect your baggage. A representative will be waiting to welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. Your accommodation for the evening will be at The Retreat by Heavens.

The Retreat by Heavens:

The Retreat is a luxury boutique hotel created by the American owners of Heaven, designed by Italian architects and brought to life by an extraordinary team of Rwandan builders and technicians. The Retreat by Heaven is Kigali’s first entirely eco-friendly solar powered resort featuring locally crafted sustainable teak wood furniture, expansive custom-built rooms with peaked ceilings, front and rear private patios, bathrooms with indoor and outdoor rain showers, air conditioning, custom-made ceiling fans.

Day 2 - 4: Kigali

After breakfast, you will be met by a local on-site English-speaking representative and drive north through some beautiful terraced hills which are characterized with huge landscape and sometimes as five peaks (Volcanoes) visible. Upon arrival to your lodge, you will check in and the remainder of your day at leisure enjoying the beautiful nature of the surroundings of the Lodge. It is here you will enjoy a full day of gorilla trekking in the Volcanoes National Park. You will track one of the eight habituated Gorilla groups in Rwanda. You will move in a company of experienced ranger guides through the forest while searching for mountain gorillas. Only eight people are able to track each habituated group. Time taken while searching for these great apes, ranges between 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement of the gorilla groups as their territory can range up to 40km. The park rangers and guides will clear the way and assist you through the forest. Once the gorilla group is located you will spend an hour with them as they feed, rest and play. Important Note: For the gorilla trek please bring walking boots, or waterproof trainers and socks. You need to wear long pants whilst walking in the bush due to stinging nettles. Layers are best, as conditions in the tropical rain forest can change from hot to wet and cold in an instant. Start with a long-sleeved t-shirt and long pants thick socks and boots, add a fleece and rainproof jacket and you should be right for all conditions. Volcanoes National Park where the gorillas reside is a high-altitude rainforest so come prepared for all conditions.

Cushioned in the foothills of the breathtaking Virunga volcano range, One & Only Gorilla’s Nest makes the magical possible as you enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime, personal encounter with the rare and majestic mountain gorilla, roaming free in its own natural habitat. Offering an exclusive front-row seat to Africa’s oldest national park, you’ll be captivated as elephants, lions, exotic birds and one of the planet’s greatest array of primate species flourish before your eyes and welcome you into their world. Then retreat to your own world, a spectacular modern haven, where every creature comfort is yours to enjoy.

Day 5 - 8 Kigali - Cape Town

After a leisure morning breakfast at around 9am, you will be ready to be transferred to Kigali the Capital city of Rwanda through the North Western route. On arrival to Kigali, you may wish to do a short city tour of Kigali and after all visit the genocide memorial site, a grim reminder of a senseless massacre of innocent’s lives in 1994. Learn about Rwanda’s history from pre-colonial times to 1994 genocide and how Rwanda has dealt with its past. You will be dropped off at Kigali Airport for your flight to Cape Town International Airport. On your arrival, you will be privately transferred to the One & Only Cape Town. Your next three days will be an exploration of the Mother City at your leisure. From the iconic Table Mountain and shopping extravaganza of the V&A Waterfront to the white-sand beaches of Clifton & Camp’s Bay, there are a myriad of activities to enjoy.

The One & Only Cape Town:

The One & Only Cape Town is a premier, urban chic resort that is drenched in luxury. It is situated in the cosmopolitan V&A Waterfront, one of the most beloved attractions of the Mother City and has postcard views of Table Mountain in all of her regal glory. Day 9 - Cape Town

After breakfast, you will be privately transferred to Cape Town International Airport for your onward travel arrangements.
