Victoria Falls is one of the most iconic and breathtaking sites in Africa and is on the border of two countries, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Here are a few handy tips if you plan on ticking it off your travel list…
- Any time is a good time to visit. However, the rainy season and the dry seasons both have their advantages. Rainy season (from November to early April) is when you will experience why it is called ‘The Smoke that Thunders’. The dry season (from August to November) is better for watersport activities, as well as visiting Livingstone Island (Zambia side) and swimming in the famous Devil’s Pool.
- If you want to visit Victoria Falls both in Zambia and Zimbabwe, your best bet is to get a KAZA Univisa, which allows free movement between both countries, as well as the Chobe Region in Botswana, for up to 30 days.
- It’s worth seeing the Falls from both countries but, if you have to choose, Zimbabwe is known for having the best view as 75% of the fall surface is visible for this side.
- Both countries offer full moon tours of Victoria Falls; a rare natural sight and only for three nights of every month. It’s one of the few places in the world where you can see the phenomenon that is the Lunar Rainbow (otherwise known as the Moonbow).
