If you’re heading to Botswana for a fly-in safari, here are some pointers on how to make the scenic but sometimes hot and confined fly-in journey one of the best parts of your trip!
Luggage Restrictions
Strict luggage restrictions apply on light aircrafts. Familiarize yourself with your provider’s restrictions to avoid any trouble when checking in. It is compulsory for luggage to be packed in soft bags only, and weight is generally limited to 20kg per person, including hand luggage and photographic equipment.
Motion Sickness
If you’re prone to motion sickness, it’s best to take precautionary measures by carrying motion sickness medication with you. An unsettling feeling could spoil the fantastic once-in-a-lifetime views.
Heat
Botswana is generally hot and dry for most of the year, especially during the months from November to March. Being in a confined space a few thousand feet up in the air, the heat may be uncomfortable. We recommend packing wet wipes into your hand luggage—a wipe of the face and hands will make a world of difference. And don’t forget the bottled water!
We hope and trust that you will enjoy your flight – and remember to take your camera, as the views are absolutely spectacular!
